When I said the 360's is more powerful then the PS3's, I obviously meant the GPU, not the CPU. The Cell is obviously and well known to be more powerful. Down fanboys, down.
I also forgot to compare these to PCs. Now, running a PC with Windows XP or Vista you get a lot of overhead, even with a bunch of your background programs shut off and optimized. 512 megs of RAM in a console goes a lot further then 512 in a PC, game wise. And even when the 360, and especially when the PS3 wa...
I find what resolution really helps with is seeing opponents in the distance in multiplayer. That is why, on the PC, I like to have my resolution high for multiplayer, but I will turn other things down to get a playable framerate.
I really think when the console were being designed they should have made things just a little bit more powerful and we might at least be able to have every game running at 1280x720p. Hitting 1080p, well that would be nice but it is quite a high resolution.
Let's just look at both the 360 and PS3. Both only have 512 megs of RAM (and an extra 10 on the 360 with it's framebuffer). Both use some of that for their respective OS's (with the PS3 taking more memory then the 360 I do b...
I don't think it's actually a bad thing they released a No Doubt pack. I mean, I'm sure there are people out there that wouldn't mind it at all. It's not just metalheads listening to slayer and metallica that play this game, after all. Now, what does worry me is the amount of content that has been trickling into this game. Rockband seems to be getting a few new songs every week, sometimes every other week. How many packs has Activision released. Like 4 or 5, and the Foo Fighters and Velvet Re...
A ha, so this is how it works. Give out the game for free and then start charging for the expansions. Very sneaky Microsoft.
Just kidding, good game getting a hopefully good expansion pack, can't go wrong there.
Wow, we are actually starting to see dual-core machines as a requirement. I thought it would be a while longer before this happened, but it is good that it did. Pentium Ds aren't exactly brand new processors anyway. Almost time to retire my Northwood P4 I guess.
Besides supporting Rare via their contacts and bugging Nintendo via theirs, we should also be contacting Activision regarding this matter. If you want to be heard and get this game back on track, don't forget to email Rare, Nintendo AND Activision. They are the ones who finally pulled the plug.
Just wait, I wouldn't be suprised if they try to bully Capcom from making the remake of Bionic Commando. I mean, that was an NES game after all (and they have been showing off the NES graphics from the old version in the trailers). Oh boy.
Nintendo has to stop threatening activision before the port can be released on any system. Go read the article eaglesomethingoranother.
If Nintendo isn't the only one to get it, then no one will. Damn you Iwata for not being a sensible man.
Activision needs to grow some bigger balls, that is what they need to do. Nintendo will what, threaten to cut them off from developing for the Wii and the DS. Sure they will. I don't think Nintendo would want to loose Activision's support, they put out great games. I can see the add now, it says "Guitar Hero IV, coming out on every single system out there except the Wii and DS". Or maybe even "Call of Duty 5. Yeah, Treyarch made it but it's not that bad and you won't find it on...
Now that was funny.
That is Nintendo's way. I remember the 80s and how they handle 3rd parties and the like. A very sneaky company. Then they shot themselves in the foot with the Gamecube.
Rare and Microsoft really need to find a loop hole in Activisions contract, even work with Activision to find one. Hell, get MGM and United Artists to draft up a special license for Rare and Microsoft to the Bond license, if they can. Then, Nintendo would have absolutely nothing to say and Iwata couldn't threaten Activision. So basically, Iwata would have f#cked all Wii owners out of the chance to play a bunch of Rare's classic games, and remakes at that, over one game Nintendo never even mad...
So, what's next, is he going to threaten Capcom for remaking the NES version of Bionic Commando now too? That was Nintendo only. Microsoft should have Rare touch-up all of their old games and release them onto XBLA, just in spite. They don't have any middle man to threaten with Battletoads or Jet Force Gemini, and especially not Banjo-Kazooie. In the intro to that game, they should have the Nintendo symbol smashed up or something, just in spite.
I think what they should be doing is two things. One, keep releasing more song packs like they do right now, but lower the prices to below Rock Bands pricing (not to try take down Rock Band, just because they have less work to do. Coding for two instruments is a lot less work then trying to code for 4. Come on Activision, fix the pricing), and release songs more often. This is where people should be able to pick up the track packs they really want. Get more artists and not just the mainstrea...
Here here to that. Hopefully Rare will remake every one of their games and make more sequels to past franchises (I've been itching for a new battle toads game for quite some time) and release them on XBLA only, until Iwata smartens up and Goldeneye's remake sees the light of day.
I just don't get it, not only is Iwata f$cking Microsoft by blocking GoldenEye 007 remake, which is the only game that they can possibly block since there are no middle men to bully with Rare's other games, but he is screwing over all of the Wii owners out there who would probably enjoyed (and paid for) ports of all of Rare's other games that Microsoft would have made available on the Virtual console. I'm sure Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie both would have hit a million or more download themse...
Another thing Microsoft could do is go straight to MGM and UA and get a license to release this game directly from them. Maybe find some loop hole in activision's contract that they could do it. That way, activision doesn't get in trouble with nintendo and we get our game.
I find the reality of the matter is that this generation there is very little true gap in power between the two HD consoles. Xbox 360: faster data access times (from DVD drive), more powerful GPU but weaker CPU and no hdd as standard. PS3: more disk space, HDD mandatory, powerful CPU but weaker GPU and less available RAM. What one console lacks in one area it makes up in another, so in the reality is they are both really close. The PS3 has a weaker GPU but by combining it with 2 SPUs from the...
